Nomadic herders crossing the Cedarberg mountain range, several hundred years ago, would drop pumpkin seeds at the spring (fontein) where they stopped for water. In this manner, pumpkins would grow around the fountain and henceforth the area acquired the name Pampoen Fontein. Our farm has four fully equipped cottages for hire. All are tastefully furnished and supplied with hand-embroidered bed linen, towels, wood, coffee, tea and soap. Each has an indoor fireplace for winter (it snows on the farm from time to time!) and an outside braai area. All you need take is your food and drink.
